Weston Jesuit School of Theology

Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, Massachusetts is a graduate divinity school and an ecclesiastical faculty and theology that trains men and women, both lay and religious, for service, especially for the Roman Catholic Church. Weston Jesuit is governed by the Society of Jesus.[1]

Founded in 1922 as Weston College, the school was integrated into Boston College in 1959. In 1974, Weston College becomes independent but coordinates with Boston College under the Boston Theological Institute.[2] In 1975, Weston College is renamed to Weston School of Theology. In 1994, the school is renamed to Weston Jesuit School of Theology.[3] In 2006, Weston Jesuit School of Theology announced its intention to re-affiliate with Boston College as part of a new School of Theology and Ministry. It is currently projected that this re-affiliation will occur in Fall 2008.[4] Weston Jesuit has the following degree programs:[5]

  • Master of Divinity
  • Master of Theological Studies
  • Master of Arts in Spiritual Direction
  • Master of Theology
  • Licentiate in Sacred Theology
  • Doctor of Sacred Theology

Weston Jesuit's president is Fr. Robert Manning, S.J.[6] In 2002, Weston Jesuit came out with a statement condemning the war in Iraq.[7]
