TV.com summary

Where I Live was a critically acclaimed but short-lived sitcom that premiered in 1993. The show starred Doug E. Doug as Doug St. Martin, a Trinidadian-American teen living in Brooklyn, New York City. He lived with his caring, hard-working parents and his bratty little sister. Much of the show focused on Doug's misadventures with his best friends, Reggie and Malcolm. The show was based on Doug's own childhood.

The show was a midseason replacement and premiered as part of ABC's TGIF lineup. But the ratings were very low, putting the show on the brink of cancellation. But support from fans and Bill Cosby helped the show get renewed for a second season. In the meantime, the show returned in the summer on Tuesdays after Full House, which raised the ratings temporarily. Bill Cosby then became a consultant on the series. However, the show was moved to Saturday nights for its second season and the ratings were even lower than before. 21 episodes were produced but only 14 of them aired before the show was cancelled.

Cosby remembered Doug and later hired him for the sitcom Cosby.
