Will Sampson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Will Sampson (September 27, 1933 - June 3, 1987) was a Native American Muscogee (Creek) actor and artist.

Sampson's most notable roles were as "Chief Bromden" in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and "Taylor The Medicine Man" in the second movie of the Poltergeist film series.

He also had a recurring role on the hit TV show Vega$, as Harlon Twoleaf.

A skilled artist, Will's works are highly prized by art collectors and museums. A large painting by Will, depicting the Ribbon Dance of his Muscogee people is in the collection of The Creek Council House Museum in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

He died of post-operative kidney failure and pre-operative malnutrition problems. Some people have suggested that this was due to a supposed curse on the production of the Poltergeist movie series.
