In August 2006, Winder residents passed a Sunday liquor by the drink ordinance which is an example of how Winder is growing and working to attract restaurants and other retail establishments.

Only a few miles from the Interstate 85, Winder is easy to get to and provides a peaceful respite from the crowded areas one finds close to the Mall of Georgia just a few miles south in Buford.
