Wingate University

Wingate University is a private four-year co-educational institution, founded in 1896. It is located in Wingate, North Carolina, USA and is affiliated with the North Carolina Baptist Convention.

It was originally established as a boarding school developed into a junior college, and became a four-year college in 1977.

The university offers more than 40 undergraduate majors in arts and sciences, business, education, fine arts, music and sport sciences. It also offers seven pre-professional programs. Graduate degrees are awarded in business and education. A doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is also awarded. In addition to academics, Wingate student-athletes compete in 17 NCAA Division II sports. Wingate's mascot is the Bulldog.

In 2006, U.S. News & World Report ranked Wingate #19 out of 53 colleges in the "Southern Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor's" category[1].
