Wootton Bassett Town Football Club are an English football club based in the town of Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. The club has 3 senior sides, 4 girls teams' and 12 youth and mini sides. The record match attendance was 2,103 versus Swindon Town in July 1991.

Formed in 1882, Wootton Bassett Town Football Club is among the longest established clubs in Wiltshire and but for a few years after formation has played its games at its present home — The Gerard Buxton Sports Ground — the ground having been donated by Gerard Buxton for sporting activities within the town of Wootton Bassett.

In the mid 1930s Wootton Bassett Town were playing in the Wiltshire League and by the 40s and 50s Bassett were one of the stronger sides in the county and ten years on were playing in the Wiltshire Premier League — at the time a strong league with teams such as Paulton Rovers and Frome Town, both teams from outside the county.

In 1976 County football was restructured to include the new Wiltshire Football League. Bassett made steady progress and by 1985 were Division Two champions and three seasons later became Division One winners. This took Bassett to the next level and into the Hellenic League.

Throughout their first eleven seasons Bassett kept a steady mid table position and in the 1999-00 season finished third — their best season yet. From this they got promotion to the Hellenic League Premier division thanks to Ardley United having insufficient facilities.

In their first season in the Premier Division, Bassett finished a respectable twelfth position. By the next season Bassett made the first round of the FA Vase but lost to St. Blazey. That year they finished fourth from bottom but avoided relegation by a comfortable nine points.

In the 2002-03 season Bassett finished fifteenth after a good season for all the club as the Under 18 side performed well enough to finish second in the Wilts Under 18 Floodlit League.

The 2003-04 season was fairly disappointing for the First Team, although they managed to finish a respectable 16th after a promising last month or two. There were some good performances throughout the year, as they upset league leaders Didcot early in the season 3-1 and also held last years′ champions North Leigh to a draw. Local rivals Highworth were also dispatched of, as Bassett won 1-0. They were knocked out of the Vase early on by Bemerton Heath Harlequins 4-1.The reserve side were top of their division, but after losing two key players to the first team finished 6th in what was a very close division. The Under 18 side finished about mid table that season, but produced some players capable of first team football and the club looked to have a bright future ahead of it.

The Reserves have a lots of influentual players such as, Jonny Aitkenhead, Dean Wason, Marcus Neal, Phil Tearle, Danny Heath, and many more youngsters to choose from that can make there way to the 1st team if there form keeps up.

The club also boasts its own website which is now in its fourth year.
