Yiddish Wikipedia is the Yiddish language version of Wikipedia. It was founded in March 2004, but the first article was written November 28 of that year.

The Yiddish Wikipedia had over 3350 articles as of February 2007.
Many Yiddish speakers do not have Hebrew graphemes on their computer.
Most Yiddish speakers are fervent orthodox Jews, called Hasidim, and their rabbis prohibit Internet use that is not strictly related to business.
One feature that is currently very noteworthy and is the engine of its current growth, is the up-to-date current events of interest to the Haredi Yiddish speaking community but with a secular bent. The current events template is the most edited page in Yiddish Wikipedia.
The articles are currently written, to a large degree, by Satmar Hasidim. The combined Hasidic communities form the largest Yiddish-speaking movement in the world today.
