Yuji Ueda

Yuji Ueda (うえだ ゆうじ Ueda Yūji, born as 上田 祐司 Ueda Yūji, born June 15, 1967) is a popular seiyū in Japan.

He was born in Fukuoka and has a number of notable roles to his name, including some as the main character, as in "Love Hina" and "Martian Successor Nadesico". He is married to fellow seiyū Omi Minami.

In July 2004, he left Arts Vision and officially made his name into an all-hiragana form. In April 2005, Ueda joined Osawa Production, and currently works for Osawa as of April 2006.

Ueda currently has 160 voice works credited to his name-to-date according to the Anime News Network and as of July 24, 2006. He's a versatile voice actor, voicing characters ranging from simpletons (Urashima Keitaro in Love Hina and Bantaro in the Jubei-chan series) to tough, even vicious men (Sagara Sanosuke in Rurouni Kenshin and Zolf J. Kimblee in Full Metal Alchemist).

  • He has starred alongside Yui Horie whereby his character had a crush on Horie's.
    • In Love Hina, with Ueda as Urashima Keitaro and Horie as Narusegawa Naru. Also, the other girl in the "love triangle" (Otohime Mutsumi) is voiced by Satsuki Yukino (see below).
    • In Jubei-chan II, with Ueda as Bantaro and Horie as Jiyu.
  • He has once voiced the same character as Junichi Suwabe: Kyosuke Takakura in Nana. Ironically, in Full Metal Alchemist, they voiced bitter enemies (with Suwabe as Greed and Ueda as Kimblee).
    • In Prince of Tennis, they belonged to the same tennis team in which Suwabe's character is the team captain
    • In Clamp's X anime, Suwabe's character Fuma is once again the leader of the Dragons of Earth, in which Ueda's character Kakyo is a member of.
  • He has starred alongside Satsuki Yukino whereby his character has romantic feelings for her.
    • In Inuyasha, both his characters Hojo (and Hojo's ancestor Akitoki) shares a crush for Yukino's character Kagome.
    • In Ragnarok, his character married Yukino's.
    • Clamp's X anime, his character Kakyo has romantic feeling's for Yukino's Hokuto.
