"Yume no Uta / Futari de..." is Kumi Koda's 33rd single under the Rhythm Zone label. "Yume no Uta / Futari de..." debuted at the top of Oricon charts with sales of 175,643 copies. This is the second highest debut sales by Koda and the second highest debut sales for a Japanese female artist in 2006.[citation needed] The first for both are held by Koda's previous single, 4 hot wave.[citation needed]

Both songs have their own covers for both the CD-only version and CD+DVD version.

Unusually enough, the songs both use the same melody. The arrangements differ, as well as the lyrics and vocals - 'Yume no Uta' is sadder and more of a power ballad, while 'Futari de...' is quieter and a bit happier[citation needed] - but the melody is shared between songs. This was done because the single is set as a two-story ballad, with each song representing different sides and outcomes of the same love story. "Futari de..." was used as an image song to the United States release of Flushed Away.
