Zafar may refer to:

  • The ancient city of (Zafar in Aramiac, Thifar in South Arabian and modern Arabic) in Yemen.
  • The boy's name Zafar is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "victory." [1]. Zafar and variations Zafer, Zhafar, Thafar, Dhafar (ظفر) [Urdu, Arabic, Persian] is a popular name in Pakistan. It means conqueror, one who takes country, triumph. The English equivalent of this name is Victor.
  • Zafar was also the name of the last Mughal emperor of India whose full name was Bahadur Shah Zafar بہادر شاہ ظفر.He used Zafar as his pen name in writing Urdu Shaayri.He was a direct descendant of emperor Shahjahan who built the Taj Mahal.
