In August 2006, Zambia took part in Division Two of the Africa region of the ICC World Cricket League. After reaching the penultimate stage of qualification for the 2007 World Cup, they were expected to perform well in this tournament and thus gain a place in Division Three of the ICC World Cricket League. However they finished fourth in the tournament, their only win coming against Nigeria.
